Giving Tuesday – The Big Barn Project
Let’s all vow to take a break from the inherent stresses of the holidays and do some good. After a well-deserved turkey nap, step away from your shopping list and focus instead on the true spirit of the season. On November 27th, Giving Tuesday provides an opportunity for people to give their time, material or financial donations to a charity of their choice. Even if your schedule prevents you from physically volunteering at a local charity you can still use the platform and hashtag “#GivingTuesday” to promote causes on your social media pages. At My Vet we are especially excited for this upcoming Giving Tuesday so that we can help our friends at Alive Rescue.
Alive Rescue, a Chicago-based canine and feline rescue, has been donated a large barn space in rural Wisconsin. Any urban animal rescue will lament to the lack of shelter space for dogs and cats. Most rescues are foster dependent. But when there aren’t enough volunteer fosters to accommodate the rescued animals there needs to be additional space. A renovated barn would mean higher rescue numbers and more relinquished animals finding forever homes. The Big Barn will function as a space for those cases that are more medically or behaviorally intensive. Those animals can receive one-on-one training in a secure area. They can also receive any medical treatments in a comfortable location.
If you are looking to flex your charity muscles this Giving Tuesday, consider giving to Alive Rescue and helping them reach their goal to renovate their Big Barn. A simple shout-out on social media can help direct other interested persons to donate as well. For more information, follow the link below.
