My Vet Animal Hospital is happy to announce we now have laser therapy to offer our patients! The team is very excited to work with our favorite cats and dogs in hospital to help promote their healing and well being!
Laser therapy, or “light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation”, is a non-invasive and drug free therapy that can be used alongside current medical therapies to help with various signs of discomfort and inflammation in our pets.
Laser therapy works by stimulating the cells in the body, which targets the tissues, resulting in relief from pain, increased circulation, reduced inflammation, helping to heal the body from within. Treatment can be provided within minutes and can be very relaxing for your pet.
Some ways to use laser therapy on your pets include:
Treatment of arthritis, degenerative joint disease, or hip dysplasia
General pain management (sprains, strains, and stiffness)
Post-surgery pain (spays, neuters, and other surgeries)
Skin problems (hot spots, lick granulomas, infections, wounds)
Dental procedures (extraction sites, post scaling inflammation)
Fractures and wounds (bites and lesions)
Irritable Bowel Disease
Some ways our senior pets can show us signs of discomfort are:
As the laser is administered, your pet may feel a gentle and soothing warmth, tingling, or no sensation at all. Laser therapy can actually be very relaxing for most pets, with results noticed after the first treatment. Because it works directly on the affected area, laser treatment can help speed up healing and improve mobility almost immediately. If you feel your pet could benefit from this, please feel free to call our office at 773.235.8387 to discuss the treatments with us!
